Stop Mansplaining My Vagina

Jen Gunter is an OB/GYN from California, and in her recent Op-Ed from the New York Times she asks men to stop criticizing, demonizing, and mansplaining her own vagina to her- and to other people with vaginas.

It is unfortunately not uncommon for cis men to complain about or have standards for their partners' vaginas: they must be hairless, "clean" smelling, all look the same. And if a person's vagina does not meet these requirements, many cis men have no trouble telling their partners to change something about their daily routine in order to achieve these desired effects.

Gunter is tired of this, and so are many of us. It is rude, misogynistic, and unfair to police others' bodies, and this behavior and feeling of entitlement contributes to a longstanding mystification of what is often considered to be the "female" body.

It is unacceptable, and Gunter calls for it to stop.
